I often get asked the question, ‘do I need a blog on my website?’

It’s a good question and the answer really depends on what you’re trying to achieve from your website. My answer to this though is pretty much always ‘YES’!

Why though?

Firstly, what’s the purpose of a blog on your website? For starters, it’s a great way to communicate with your visitors – tell them what your up to, promote any offers you have or reassure them why they should do business with you. It also will help with those users staying on your website for longer by giving them more content to browse.

Secondly, there are so many more benefits to having a blog on your website. The SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) benefits are also crucial. Search engines, like Google and Bing, will always favour websites that are regularly updated over those that aren’t – an ‘up-to-date’ website is better than one that’s not.

Also, a blog enables you to reach out to potential customers if you’re writing about the right topics. With some good keyword research – something 87Marketing can help you with – you can find out what people are searching for and write relevant content for your website to target them.

Remember, the more people that visit your website, the better chance it will have of appearing higher in search engine results. Google will always favour a popular website because it will consider the fact that other people have visited and, in theory, found it useful.

But a blog is just one of many ways of reaching potential new customers and appearing higher in Google search.

So, do you need a blog on your website? That’s decision is totally yours. If you do decide a blog is for you, make sure you have regular content to post.

And like any good blog, there should be a gentle reminder of what services you can offer… so if you need help with your blog – what to write, copywriting, content strategy – 87Marketing can help, so please do get in touch. Subtle enough? 😉
